Dear participants,

Here are some useful hints for your trip to Faro:

1)       The Province of Algarve: Algarve lies in the extreme south of Portugal. Bordered by a range of hills on the north, the Atlantic on
            special dry but soft climate. The beaches have fine sand, the villages are charming. Since the 60s, lots of people have been
            attracted to natural beauty which is all around. Algarve has a lot of well-known villages and towns, typical spots and products,
             world famous beaches. We hope that you find everything you need to spend (in the Algarve) one of the best holidays of your life.

2)        Getting to Faro: there are several regular and chartered flights to Faro from most of the European major airports. However, if you
            arrive at Lisbon airport, you can also travel to Faro either by train or by bus. Some hints to get to the bus or train stations:

           You can also pick some regular city bus, like the number 45. Once again, ask at the information desk. Of course, you can always pick
            a cab  (It's perfectly safe, don't worry! The driver probably won't speak English, but if you say/write the keywords ``Terreiro do
            Pa\c co'' (the \c c in Pa\c co reads like ss), ``comboio'' (means train) and ``Algarve'', he will understand perfectly).The
            connection airport/railway station by taxi costs around 1000 PTE.

The available trains depart at: 7.55 (arriving at Faro at 13), 13.20 (-> 17.30), 17.30 (--> 22.00), 18.50 (--> 0.01) and 23.10 (--> 7.44) [the last one takes a quite long trip]

            around 300 m. Once in ``Saldanha'' ask for the bus station. It is on the avenue ``Avenida Duque d'Avila''. You can also take a
            cab to get here; it costs around 1000 PTE.

            Available buses:  8.15 (-->12.00); 10.30 (--> 14.15); 12.30 (--> 16.30) not on Friday and Saturday;
            15.15 (--> 19.00); 18.30 (--> 22.15); 20.30 (--> 00.30) not on Friday.

3)         Arriving in Faro and getting to the University: the International airport of Faro is located 3.7 km from the ``Gambelas'' Algarve
             University   campus (There is another campus, named ``Penha'', but that is not the conference site). A shuttle bus will operate
               between the airport and Campus/hotels on Sunday the 5th September.

            The departures from the airport are at 2, 3.30, 4.15, 5.15 and 6.30 pm. The  bus will stop just in front of the airport exit doors,
            and so it will be  very easy to spot it. Taxi(if you go by taxi ask the driver for ``Universidade, Gambelas'') service to the
            campus/hotels is also available (price about PTE 1300; remember that 1 Euro=200 PTE).

            The train and bus stations are in the center of Faro, 6 km from  the campus. There will be also a shuttle at the railway station on
            Sunday. This shuttle will depart at 1.30, 3 and 6 pm from the little square just in front of the railway station.

4)         Arriving in Faro and getting to the hotels: if you arrive on Monday or before Sunday, then you will go first to your hotel. If you
            arrive at the airport, there is an Aerobus that links the airport to all the Faro main hotels, including all the ITCPP00 hotels. This
            Aerobus works all days .

The bus and railway stations are close to each other. If you arrive there, you can also pick up the Aerobus, because it stops at these two places. However, if you are going to the Eva, D. Bernardo, Alnacir or Afonso III, you can simply walk some minutes. Ask the direction to someone. People are usually friendly and will try to help you. Here are the addresses of the hotels: Alnacir (Estrada Senhora da Saude, 24), Afonso III (Rua Miguel Bombarda, 64), D. Bernardo (Rua General Teofilo da Trindade, 20), Eva (Avenida da Republica).

Of course, there is also the taxi. In any case the amount to pay should exceed  PTE 1500.

About the student residence, the details will have to be treated individually.

5)         During the conference days a shuttle bus will operate between the student residence, hotels Aeromar, Ibis and Monaco (which
             are out of town) and the conference site, in the morning and in the evening. The other hotels are served by the local city bus
             number 15 (you  may have to walk 10 minutes to the bus stop. Ask at your hotel the precise location of the bus stop), which links
              to the University. The price of the ticket is around PTE 200, and you can also buy a touristical ticket, valid for the entire week.
